Selfless and Generous Hearts

The summer has just started and already we have hosted a handful of incredible volunteer teams who have decided the best way to spend their vacation days is by serving those in need. Some of these teams have come from southern Oregon, Washington and even as far away as Montana. These teams have been diverse in age, gender and background. Volunteers consist of youth groups, community minded business groups, missions teams, and university clubs.

Recently we had the Rose Festival Court volunteer with such heart that the children at our Women’s LifeChange Center couldn’t stop talking about their time together. For a few of the groups, this was their first experience volunteering with Union Gospel Mission, while other groups have served side by side with us in ministry summer after summer.

Union Gospel Mission in downtown Portland, our LifeChange Center for Women and Their Children, and our Thrift Store in Tigard have all benefited from the selfless and generous hearts of these volunteers. In every season we are able to do all that we do for the community because of the incredible groups and individual volunteers who give the gift of their time.
