Feeding the hungry
Since opening our doors in 1927, Union Gospel Mission has demonstrated the gospel to people in need by meeting their basic needs. Each day, the Mission provides quality meals to our homeless neighbors and people in need.
In 2017, we served 268,958 meals!
restoring the addict
Lives are being transformed every day in LifeChange. Men, women and children are escaping homelessness, addiction and abuse and building new and abundant lives. In 2016, 27,375 days and nights of safe recovery housing were provided for the men in our downtown location, and women and children at our LifeChange Center in Beaverton.
loving our neighbor
2016 marked the launch of Union Gospel Mission’s Search + Rescue outreach. Five nights per week, the Search + Rescue van goes to homeless camps in the greater Portland area to provide basics, such as food, coffee, socks and hygiene items. Search + Rescue rekindles hope by providing resources, consistent weekly contact and prayer. We had wonderful holiday events at Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas, as well as at our annual street fair and clothing giveaway, Operation Overcoat.
