Volunteer Spotlight - Terry Dalke

When Terry set out on a motorcycle trip 20 years ago, he assumed he’d have a great time. He always did. But what he wasn’t expecting was how that trip connected him to the Mission. “I had been looking for somewhere to get involved,” Terry says. John, a guy on his trip, ran our education program at the time and told Terry about it. “I asked if he ever needed anybody to come and teach. He said, ‘Oh, right now I need somebody.’ So that was the beginning,” says Terry.

Two Decades of Teaching and Transformation

Twenty years later, he’s still teaching in our LifeChange Program. The life transformation he sees has kept him coming back every Monday for two decades. “These people in the program are the ones who were outside not that long ago. They were laying on the ground completely stoned. Now, here they are with the power of Christ. They’ve been made new creatures, and here they are praising God and doing something useful with their life. That’s why I want to be here.”

Serving Where the Spirit Leads

Terry had teaching experience, but that’s not a requirement for volunteers. We always need people to serve meals, help with Search + Rescue, organize donated items, and more. “If you really want to be used by the Lord, look around and find out where the Holy Spirit is working and go join Him. And I find that at the Mission,” Terry says.
