1,248 Thanksgiving Meals Served

There were many happy faces at Union Gospel Mission's "Love Your Neighbor Day" Thanksgiving feast.  The meal had all the traditional Thanksgiving favorites; turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, yams, fruit cocktail, dinner rolls and for dessert, pumpkin pie with whipped cream was served.

Over 150 volunteers helped prepare the meal and served the guests seated at tables in a 120 foot long heated tent donated for use by Northwest Natural Gas.

A new feature to the event this year was the "Blessing Tent" where guests received hygiene kits stocked with essentials like toothpaste, toothbrush soap, deodorant, and gloves. Other items available in the blessing tent included blankets and snack packs which had soda, granola or fruit bars and cookies.
