Join us for Portland Faith Forum! June 12 at Sunset Presbyterian

Union Gospel Mission is collaborating with Pulitzer Prize winning writer, Tom Hallman, Jr. to host a first ever Portland Faith Forum.  The Portland Faith Forum will take place Tuesday, June 12, 2012 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm at Sunset Presbyterian Church in Portland.  The event is free and open to the public. The discussion will focus on the topic of authentic faith, using Hallman’s book “A Stranger’s Gift” as a launching point.  In addition to Tom Hallman, the panel will include several people featured as “faith teachers” in Hallman’s book. The panel includes Carl Parsons, once homeless and addicted, made his way through Union Gospel Mission’s LifeChange addiction recovery program and is now a senior at Portland State University and employed at the Mission.  Annette Steele, will share how her faith sustained her as she worked as a cleaning woman and single mother who sent her five children through college and taught them the value of hard work and faith.  Dan Willis, a police captain from California, will share how he maintains faith in a job where he sees violence and crime on a daily basis.  Bill Russell, Executive Director of Union Gospel Mission, will be moderating the panel.
