THE JOURNEY HOME
Together we can:
End cycles of addiction, poverty and abuse so these women and children have a brighter future. Double the number of women and children we serve each year. Serve over 2,000 women and children in the next decade. Increase onsite services including counseling, education and daycare to promote healing and transformation for both parent and child.
A Place that is Life Saving
A Place that is Life Saving: The majority of women and children who come to UGM are fleeing domestic violence. their belongings are carried in a single trash bag along with their fear, grief, and instability. As soon as a mother and child enter the doors of our new facility, they will be welcomed by caring staff in a building that is designed to be safe and inviting. She will open the doors to her new home as a respected guest in a room that is fully furnished and clean, in an environment that has been carefully created to feel like home. Her basic needs will be met so she can continue to make courageous choices for positive change.
A Place that is Life Changing
A Place that is Life Changing: When women don’t have to worry about safety, childcare, paying overdue bills, and their next meal, they can begin to think about the future. This stability, coupled with a robust support system of relationships and services allows them to engage in transformational programming including onsite counseling, parenting classes, children’s activity center, and more. The new facility will create spaces where community can naturally occur, all onsite! By alleviating barriers to services and designing an environment that allows women to feel supported and loved, they can commit to intensive services and make a significant commitment to restoration in 13-months.
A Place that is Life Giving
A Place that is Life Giving: As women are transformed, they begin to transition. This transition period has a place in the newly designed facility with classrooms for life skills training and private meeting spaces for consultation and future planning. Additionally, the new site’s location is in close proximity to affordable housing allowing women and children to stay connected through the transition to independence.
Campaign Status and Timeline
We are so grateful to you and other caring individuals, foundations and businesses that have helped secure $28.2M for this campaign on our goal of $29.5M. We need to raise the remaining $1.3M in 2024, and then we can complete construction in the summer of 2025.
