Emergency Cold Weather Services – Update

Search and Rescue Outreach January 3rd

Search and Rescue Outreach January 3rd

Due to the freezing temperatures, Union Gospel Mission is providing emergency cold weather services. We are hosting emergency overnight shelter where we have space for up to 60 guests. Emergency overnight shelter opens at 9:00 p.m. Our Search + Rescue van will be out in the greater Portland area, Sunday through Thursday night, distributing cold weather gear, blankets, sandwiches and coffee.

During day time hours we are open from 10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. guests can come into the day room/dining area where coffee and snacks are served. We re-open the day room at 2:00 p.m. -4:00 p.m. and offer lunch, snacks, and coffee. We also offer clothing and blankets. Chapel service and dinner start at 7:15 p.m. as part of our regular schedule.

If you would like to help Union Gospel Mission provide emergency cold weather services, our most needed items are blankets, coats, socks and coffee. These items may be dropped off at 3 NW Third Avenue (near NW Third and Burnside in downtown Portland) during business hours or at 15 NW Third Avenue after hours. Another giving option is to purchase a blanket, sleeping bag or socks from the Mission’s Amazon Wish List. When you purchase from the Wish List the item(s) ship directly to the Mission.
